It doesn’t get much more Old World than this sausage. Our Vienna Beef Premium Beef 1/4 lb Natural Casing Frank is made with the same traditional recipe and hickory smoking as our world-famous franks. It’s longer, thicker and has a smoother grind. Ships frozen in a foam cooler to arrive with an internal temperature of 45°F or colder. Authentic “snap” when you bite. Made in Chicago.

Preparation Instructions: Fully Cooked. Steam: Place in 160-180°F water for 10 minutes. Grill / Broil: Place on flat grill at 350°F for 10 minutes. Deep Fry: Place in oil for 2-3 minutes at high heat (350°F). Microwave: Heat 1 frank for 30 seconds on high.

Original “Chicago Style” Hot Dog

The “Chicago Style” hot dog history began with street cart hot dog vendors during the hard times of the Great Depression.

Money was scarce, but business was booming for these entrepreneurs who offered a delicious hot meal on a bun for only a nickel. The famous Chicago Style Hot Dog was born!

They’d start with a Vienna Beef hot dog, nestle it in a steamed poppyseed bun, and cover it with a wonderful combination of toppings: yellow mustard, bright green relish, fresh chopped onions, juicy red tomato wedges, a kosher-style pickle spear, a couple of spicy sport peppers and finally, a dash of celery salt.

This unique hot dog creation with a “salad on top” and its memorable interplay of hot and cold, crisp and soft, sharp and smooth, became America’s original fast food and a true Chicago institution.

Vienna Beef was founded in 1893

Vienna Beef was founded in 1893. Austrian-Hungarian immigrants Emil Reichel and Samuel Ladany introduced their family frankfurter recipe at the legendary Columbian Exposition/World’s Fair. The hot dog was a hit, and Vienna Beef was born.

125 years later, we’re still making our sausages the old-fashioned way, with premium domestic beef and our original recipe, to the highest of quality standards and hickory-smoked for authentic flavor.
